Information You Submit
When you use an address or owner-name form, the information entered is sent to the third-party provider that supplies search results. We do not keep a local copy of those queries. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Information Recorded by the Server
Hosting may create standard logs such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, and visit times. These records help operate the site and review traffic in aggregate. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may also use cookies or similar tools where they apply.
How Information Is Used
Information described above supports site operation, troubleshooting, broad traffic measurement, and page improvements. We do not sell a visitor list or create individual visitor profiles.
Outside Portals and Search Tools
Links lead to the Mercer County Clerk, Assessor, tax, GIS, city, state, and court resources, as well as to third-party search tools. Each provider sets its own privacy terms. Information submitted to an outside portal is handled under that provider's policies, including sponsored search services.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting providers may process server logs to keep the site online. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described in this policy. Information is also disclosed when valid legal process requires it.
Data Safeguards
The site uses an encrypted connection. Server logs are retained only as long as needed for the purposes stated above. Because the site has no user accounts, it does not keep account passwords or visitor profiles.
Children
The reference is intended for adults and is not designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor submitted information so we can review and remove it.
Your Choices and Public Records
You may contact us to ask about information submitted directly through this site. The public sources reviewed for this project did not identify a West Virginia comprehensive consumer-privacy statute to cite here. Access to public records held by government offices follows the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, W. Va. Code §29B-1-1 et seq., along with record-specific confidentiality laws. Vital records have the access limits in §16-5-27. We do not control records held by Mercer County, a city, or a state custodian; contact the office that maintains a record to ask about correction or lawful restriction. Use the Contact page for a site inquiry.
Policy Changes
Any revision will appear here with the updated text. Continued use after a revision takes effect indicates acceptance of the changed policy.
